Nine people are trapped inside a hydroelectric plant in Telangana after a fire broke out at one of the power houses inside the plant late last night. Ten people have been rescued from the Srisailam hydroelectric plant, which is near Telangana's border with Andhra Pradesh. The fire reportedly started at 10:30 PM. According to initial reports, a short circuit at the underground hydroelectric power station situated at Srisailam's dam left bank reportedly led to the fire.
Nagar Kurnool District Amrabad Zone Domala Penta Srisailam Project Left Power House was hit by a major accident. A huge explosion ripped through the first unit of the power plant on Thursday night, causing a sudden fire. As the fires erupted, thick smoke billowed. Immediately employees ran out. Ten of those on duty came out, 9 were lost. Firefighters arrived at the scene trying to extinguish the blaze. Among the missing were DE Srinivas, AEs Sundar, Mohan Kumar, Sushma, Fatima, Venkatrao, Rambabu and two Amran company staff. For them, the rescue team intensified its operations. Ministers of state Jagadish Reddy and Niranjan Reddy reached the spot and monitored the situation.
